The end of the 2008 regular season is upon us this weekend and of the 8 playoff spots available 5 of them will be decided this last weekend. This kind of finally to the season is what every baseball fan loves to see from our beloved sport. Teams from all over the country battling it out to the very end, smells like October playoff baseball has arrived.
I think the two biggest surprises for the season in terms of team performance would be number one the Rays and second to me would be the Dodgers. The Rays obviously for making it to the playoffs for the first time in the history of that franchise. The Rays manager Joe Madden will with out question win the AL manager of the year for this fairy tale season they have put together.
Then you have the Dodgers who up until a month ago I don’t think anyone would have picked them to get hot in the final month. Pull their record up and over the .500 mark pull ahead of the Diamondbacks and win their division out right. I being a Yankee fan (don’t be a hater 
) all my life have to wonder how things would have turned out had the Yankees held on to Joe Torre. Looks like the magic touch continues for Joe and his staff.
So the playoffs are here, almost decided. Will there be an american league team to challenge the top dog Angels and who in the national league will knock off the Cubs? Can this finally be the year for the Cubs? Will the Rays continue their Cinderella ride all the way to the end like another Florida team did only a few years ago? Lots of great sports drama to be played out in the next month. I for one am ready to go share your opinions about the playoffs and what teams you see going to the big dance and thanks for reading.
